"Codebuggy" codebug rover ( continuous servos)

I made a codebug rover by connecting up 2 continuous servos from an old boe-bot chassis:

No electronics needed, just a battery pack for the servos, and wires.

That is cool, I'll have to buy some continuous rotation servos now...

I wonder how small we can get the bot?

I ordered some continuous rotation servos, I'll have to wait until they come into stock. Hopefully my CodeBugs will arrive first!

Hacked a pair of 9g micro servos to convert them to continuous,
and added a 380mah liPo from a hubsan quad:




Need to shorten/tidy wires and maybe bigger wheels too

that's pretty close to what I am intending to do, I ordered some 9g continuous servos (the only servos I currently have are hotglued into a Dalek chassis).

My codebug's arrived yesterday and I tested one, working OK (couldn't test them all as we had our WFRP group over)

Mine uses some slightly bigger servos. Been debugging it for a couple of weeks.

My servos and other parts arrived so I spent last night building the chassis for my buggy (blog post here):



I'm not sure yet if the servos will be able to drive the treads, I'll try it out tonight.

I just wish I'd had enough time to test out the servos last night, I stripped one of them out of its shell and hooked up crocodile leads but it was midnight and I couldn't face waiting for my old laptop to startup enough to download Grahams servo program (long startup time, 10 year old laptop with far too much on it).

Now I'm at work and wishing I was able to try out my chassis.
